You don't have to have a big, fenced yard. Most popular reptiles can be kept comfortably in a purpose designed reptile habitat in any room of your residence. Adult Leopard Geckos, for instance, are happy in a habitat 60cm by 30cm. A notable exception is a pet tortoise. Adults will require plenty of space to roam, bask, dig and hide. Greenhouses with attached outdoor pens are often adapted for this purpose.

Their feeding requirements can be less demanding than other pets. Most snakes are fed weekly. Many adult lizards will only require feeding two/three times per week. Exceptions are baby animals, which with some species will require several feeds per day. Tortoises are, of course, another exception and will require large amounts of fresh food daily.

Reptiles produce little or no smell and have no hair to shed. Perfect hypoallergenic pets for sufferers of allergys or asthma.

Maintaining reptiles leads most keepers to develop an enhanced appreciation of the wonders of nature and a greater commitment to help protect and preserve this precious earth. People often then make the connection between the need to preserve rain forests and our own activities at home. If everyone in Britian just turned off the lights in empty rooms and computers off when not using them the energy savings and effect on global warming could be significant.
The list above is a fun summary of some of the reasons we think reptiles often make great pets. We've plenty more to say on the subject so please feel free to drop in at the shop where we will be happy to show you our animals and give detailed advice and pricing on choosing the right pet for you.
