TO OUR DEAR CUSTOMERS,

As many of you already know, we  have had to make way for the Tesco superstore. We have had no choice in this matter as our lease expired and a development company bought the premises when our landlord died. (He passed away at the ripe old age of 102. He always declared to us he would never sell it.)  The area where Pet Mart stands is scheduled to be part of the car park for a new Tesco.

We looked at other vacant shops in Beeston to move into but have found the rents too expensive to take on.  Because of this and because we are the wrong side of fifty to begin the undertaking of setting up the shop anew, we have made the decision to retire.
We feel very emotional about this. We have been trading in this very shop for 32 years and have a wonderful retinue of loyal customers who we will miss dearly.
It has been hard work but great fun with quite a few surprises along the way. We will certainly miss our chats on subjects both serious and frivolous and hope to still see the many friends we have made through Pet Mart as we remain part of the Beeston community.
We had to vacate by Monday 30th June 2008.

We wanted to leave with a bang rather than a fizzle!!! SO, we had a party where everyone was invited to pop in on the Saturday 28th June for a drink and a chat. We were not trading but Steve, Carol and staff were all  lounging around with food, drinks and stories to share with  loyal friends – our customers. We advertised it and it was reported by the Beeston Express paper, Nottingham Evening Post, BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Midlands TV News. It was a sad but lovely day with lots of visitors. Well wishers sent us hundreds of cards.  Although it's impossible to thank everyone personally, we were overwhelmed with the gifts of flowers, chocolates and drink. People have all just been so kind and it has been very humbling for all of us at Pet Mart to learn  how important we were in so many lives and in the community.

We have posted some pictures of our leaving  party day.

We have assembled a list of possible suppliers for any customers who are worried about where to source unique products we have supplied. We don’t want to leave anyone worried about how to continue to supply the best for their pets . Check out the page entitled-Signposting for a list of recommended and possible sources.

     WITH OUR GRATEFUL THANKS,

              STEVE, CAROL AND STAFF.
